Cristina + Dick – Honolua Forest and Ironwood Beach Elopement
Picture-Perfect Maui Elopement
Cristina and Dick met in law school and hit it off when they were assigned to argue opposing views of the same issue and decided to work together to strengthen each other’s cases. After law school, they went to Washington DC, where they fell in love with hiking and the mountains. In fact, Dick proposed to Cristina after they had reached the top of a mountain and were overlooking an amazing view.
Cristina and Dick are really close to their family and friends and thought about having a wedding with everyone in Miami, but also really love the beach, traveling, and trying new things together. With encouragement from their loved ones, they opted to get married somewhere beautiful and romantic. They had always wanted to visit Hawaii and thought, why not?!
Cristina did her research and came to us already with the thought of Ironwood Beach for the ceremony and Honolua Forest for the first look. After hearing their background, we knew the lush greenery of the forest followed by the picturesque coast and the stunning view atop the lava rock cliffs at Ironwood would be the right fit for such an outdoor-loving, adventurous couple.
Unfortunately, when they arrived on Maui a few days before, it was pretty rainy – not exactly what most people want for their wedding day. Looking at the forecast and knowing what we know about Maui’s weather, we were fairly certain it would clear up but made backup plans just in case. When wedding day arrived, it was sunny and we got an incredible sunset!

Cristina and Dick’s elopement was simple, but the details they did include were stunning. Dick looked handsome in a fitted blue suit with coral accents that matched the bride’s bouquet, while Cristina wowed in a lace gown with glamorous train. Cristina brought a veil with her, but in the end, choose to embellish her hair with fresh orchids that used the same flowers as her lei.
Our favorite detail was Cristina’s bouquet, a custom creation combining three inspiration pictures and including a mix of tropical and traditional flowers. It was exactly what she wanted and multiple people complimented the bouquet as Cristina walked by.
